I am going to build a staircase and consequently need to make an opening.
Normally, I do most things myself, but this time I plan to hire a professional.
It is a concrete slab, about 150 mm thick, and the opening should be approximately 3400 x 1000 mm.
I have sent out information to a number of companies to see who can do it at a reasonable price. Does anyone have a guess on what a reasonable price might be? I have received responses from a couple, and the prices so far have ranged from 10' incl to 25 excl + transport, etc. In other words, between 10 and 40'. Someone claims that it will take three days to make the hole??? I don't get it; I could do it in two days max myself with a mediocre 230v rental machine but want to focus on other things this time.
Grateful for input.

It depends a bit on the direction the floor joists lie in relation to the hole.
If you have to alternate, it might get a bit more complicated.
But if the joists run along the hole, then it probably won't be too much work.

Are you aware of what is right there in the beam structure where the hole is to be made? It doesn't directly affect the cost of the hole cutting but can still result in a significantly larger additional cost than anticipated.
Could there be Electricity, Heating or Water/Sewage where the hole is to be made?

It's been a long time since you started this thread, but I'm taking a chance. I'm going to do exactly the same operation as you. How did you proceed in the end? Best regards,Y yens said:I'm going to build a staircase and consequently need to cut an opening.
