hi,
I'm in the process of renovating my cabin and I'm about to replace the interior ceiling. When I removed the insulation and opened up towards the attic, I got the idea that perhaps I could create a cathedral ceiling in part of the cabin, but the question is whether it's possible to eliminate the existing beams that support the rafters so that there's an open space up to the ridge?

I've taken pictures but don't have them available right now, but I'm wondering if someone knowledgeable in construction could advise on whether it's possible to reinforce the rafters so that the underlying beams in half the cabin (about 2/3 of the cabin's length) can be removed.

Difficult to answer, but if possible, you need a beam as a ridge beam and pillars at the gables.

Hi
It might be possible, but it feels a bit overwhelming, so it'll remain a nice thought :)
Thanks for the response
