Contents of chipboards

This may seem like a vague question, but do particle boards also contain sand?

The question is based on an acquaintance, who is also a leader at a craft association, claiming this and therefore despises when people use, for example, the band saws to cut particle boards.
I have asked, among others, my grandfather who is a retired craft teacher and other acquaintances, and have also Googled around, but no one has heard of particle boards containing sand, so far it's only the acquaintance who claims this.

It sounds so improbable that it doesn't even have the potential to become a tall tale.

But - stranger things have proven to be true throughout history so...

Well, I don't think that sand is intentionally mixed into the wood pulp. But since you can use wood that isn't suitable for planks and beams, perhaps some roots and stumps are included.

However, it's true that particleboard damages blades. So there's something extra hard in the material.

My woodworking teacher told us that the saws became dull because the chipboard contains resin.
I don't know if it's true (or sand) or not.
