I am going to start building a laundry room/bathroom in an old brick building from the turn of the century. The room is above ground, and one of the walls is an exterior wall, the other walls are adjacent to other unheated spaces (garage) which might also be considered (exterior walls) but without wind and water =)
The plaster was loose on two of the walls and has therefore begun to be torn down. The other two walls have good plaster that adheres well. The exterior wall is made of 50cm thick brick.
Wondering how the wall construction should be done? The corner in the pictures by the window will be a shower corner, i.e., wet zone 1. The idea is to build a small partition wall by the window with a glass door in front. The walls are anything but perpendicular now as well.
The idea is to stud with 45mm metal studs on the two walls where the plaster is being knocked down (wet zone 1). Then cover the other two walls with new sheet material directly on the plaster (wet zone 2).
So feel free to share ideas. Metal studs? Should there be plastic behind? What sheet material for the walls? (inorganic?) Should you skip insulation on interior basement walls, but this is above ground, although brick walls.
