Strongly regret choosing concrete in the bathroom. Soap, toothpaste, etc., get absorbed even with surface treatment. You have to remove it immediately if you don't want stains, which you don't normally do in everyday life.

Will probably replace it with stone
Thanks, I've now read through the entire thread since I had the same thoughts. Now with your 6 years of experience, we're going with something else.

I would also have chosen differently if I knew everything today, but the price was decisive then so it probably would have been wood, and I appreciate the concrete more than a laminated particleboard. The concrete slab cost around 4000kr, the stone slab I wanted cost 24000kr at the time. With concrete, you still get something that matches the expensive one, even if you have to take care of it more gently. Spend the money on a stone slab if you can afford it. Otherwise, save until you can afford it, and in the meantime, you can use concrete.

Bathroom sink with a concrete countertop, chrome faucet, and white tiled wall. A red hand towel hangs nearby.

It doesn't look too bad with the spots, and concrete is stylish! :)
I think you can protect against those spots if you first wet sand with 120 paper, then 400, then 1000, and finally 2000. That will make it tight. After that, apply lacquer with topper, like something like this:

Exactly what we did :D Although now it's been about a year since we improved it.

You still always have to wipe it off. There's no luxury renovation worth anything if you let toothpaste and soap stains remain after use. It looks messy regardless of the material you have on the surface.

Yes, but with other material choices, they come off after you do it. On concrete, it leaves marks.

Well, with a teenage daughter at home, I've learned the hard way that eyebrow dye doesn't come off the new fine cast marble sink . However, real porcelain is probably resistant to most things, I think...
