Coming home and the whole ceiling has collapsed :(
Ceiling & wall panel or something like that they were called anyway...
since they are tongue-and-groove, they probably took the neighbors with them, and that's why the whole roof came down, except for the first and last rows that are screwed straight through the entire board and not just in the tongueKlicka said:
What brand are they and where did you buy them? I was wondering if you checked with the supplier. The fact that they felt "porous" almost sounds like a construction defect. My experience with MDF panel is also that they are extremely hard boards. I'm considering ceiling installation myself and haven't even thought that something like this could happen :x
I have something similar that I bought at Beijerbygg. They felt a bit flimsy when I installed them, so I stapled a little extra here and there in places that would be obscured by the ceiling trim. Very good to hear that they are a bit too weakly constructed for larger ceilings. Thanks for reporting! Unfortunately, I can't be of any help to you in this matter.
I have emailed the supplier and asked for their opinion; there was no assembly instruction for this particular panel, nor on their website...
It's this panel in question... https://www.byggmax.se/skivmaterial/panelskivor/tak-och-vaggpanel-parlspont-vit-p10231
But now that I have looked at other similar panels, their mounting instructions say to nail or screw or attach with clips at cc150.

for this panel I would choose clips, or panel nails (screws tear apart the paneling)thestrut said:I have emailed the supplier and asked for their opinion, there was no assembly instruction for this particular panel, and neither on their website...

yeah I found theirs...
but it says that you should also nail in the middle of the board?
and that the studs should be cc95? don't understand anything...

Uh-oh! To rub some salt in the wound, I use construction adhesive and brad nails in combination. These boards are hard but porous at the joints, they are not exactly suitable for screwing. Brad nails should ideally be nailed on the board, not just hidden; if you don't want visible nails, then adhesive is key. Construction adhesive intended for this specific purpose, not just any adhesive.
The boards should not be glued to each other but only to the studs/battens.
Unfortunate, but even the best make mistakes sometimes; it'll make a funny story to tell, but maybe not right now.
Consider it a second chance... (dang, I can't help but laugh, not maliciously but it's so incredibly silly to screw the boards, I wish I could help you because I don't have many projects at home right now).
Good luck, don't be so macho next time, check the instructions or find out how the next ceiling should be mounted...
Regards, P-A

cool type you
as I wrote before, an acquaintance nailed the ceiling, after a while he thought it was sagging, then he felt the ceiling and suddenly it collapsed...
so then nails were tried and tested in my circle of friends, and I thought screws couldn't be worse...
hard to check the description when there isn't one
glad one can make someone happy

It says c-c measurement for ceiling joists 195mm. c-c 200 attachment in the tongue & groove and c-c 400 in the middle of the boards.thestrut said:
You've probably missed some essential parts in the installation, unfortunate!
Redo and get it right, the advantage is that you learn
