Combine 16mm MDF + 4mm plywood + 16mm MDF
I am going to join these 3 sheet materials. Initially, I thought of gluing, wood glue or a suitable construction adhesive, but then I considered that if this 4mm plywood moves, it could cause some issues. Another idea was to screw into the plywood from both sides, but 4mm isn't much to hold onto. The third thought was to use those screws meant for joining cabinet frames, which should work but might become expensive as I think I'll need quite a few. What works or is there a better solution?
And what is this going to be?
I have 2 openings in the house that need to be fixed up. One used to have a double door, and the other was just a frame with molding around it. I recently replaced interior doors and frames and used a flex frame with matching molding. I want these 2 openings to have the same style and plan to use a 13x21 and an 11x21 flex molding set to create a custom fitting frame. The flex moldings snap into a 4mm groove in the frame, and that's what the plywood is supposed to create, so I don't want it to swell with the seasons and cause the moldings to loosen or even fall off.

Does wood glue adhere well between MDF and plywood? Or is it better to use ESS TACK PRO1, which I have an unopened tube of at home, and is supposed to hold 27 tons/m² after 24 hours, meaning it should be able to lift my 9-5 with the bonding surface this provides.
