Hello everyone,
The concrete steps to the house are now gone and will be replaced by a wooden deck, which will be a maximum of 1.5m wide and 8m long. It will have a 170 bearer fastened to the foundation and will be attached to 4 piers. Now to the question: I have read that 45x95 should handle a span of 1.5m, is this correct? Can I manage with that without it becoming too wobbly? It will have 28x120 decking on top of that.
Best regards,
Kalle

Go up a dimension if you can, and you'll get a more stable solution.

I have 220 in the main beam and 195 as joists in the part that stands on piers, it doesn't sway at all ;)
I have a relative who skimped on both the main beam and the joists, it's reminiscent of walking in a canoe to walk on that deck.
Max 2000 between the piers says "my" carpenter, 45x95 on a 1500 span I think will be wobblier than you'd want but I haven't tried.

Maybe I should go up to 120, more than that shouldn't be necessary? I don't have room for more ...

I have 120x45 with a span of 1.5m with beams of 195x45 and it handled the crayfish party with 30 people without any problems! 28mm decking.
Used so-called Class A pressure treated if that makes any difference!?

No, it makes no difference. A is the classification of the impregnation and can be used directly against soil or water. Usually, AB is used above ground.

Then I'll take it that it at least withstands moisture a bit better!

Put the beams in joist hangers and you'll lower the construction height.

Yes, it will probably be 120x45 to be on the safe side..

I had a small question regarding my construction, I will have 170 bearer in the plinths, is it possible to go down a dimension on the bearer that is nailed into the foundation??
Kind regards,

Yes, with the right attachments you can go down there.

Sounds good, and the correct fastening can be counted as 2 nail plugs with 60 in between???

French screw

The measurements have now changed slightly and it will only be 100 wide, so the beams will only be 90 long, can I then go for 90x45?? I have 2.30 between the posts, should I go up to 195 then or is 170 enough when it's that narrow???
Regards
