Which steel beam can handle a span of 7 meters with two supports?

Max deflection 8mm

snow zone 2

glass roof 0.27 Kn/m2

(I'm considering building a patio roof of 7x3m)

Edit: changed max deflection from 10 to 8 mm.

Don't think a glass roof can withstand a deflection of 10 mm...

Thank you, you are absolutely right, it should be 8mm.

That question has no answer. You must first specify the c/c distance for at least 2 steel beams.

But maybe one could make a wild guess on HEM1000 :D

Edit: It's actually stated as a 3m wide glass roof, with a load per m2, so it should be calculable, right?

The c/c distance is 3m

so the roof joists are 3m and two bearing beams at 7 meters. The front bearing beam has three posts and the rear is planned to have 2 posts. Cc between the roof joists is 1000mm.

The total load on the roof should be 4,767 kg (227x21) plus the weight of the steel structure itself.

That sounds better. HEA 240 or VKR 300x200x6.3. Price 8000-10000 SEK each.

But an HEA 240 will be excellent, at the forefront then?

There I have three editions/posts.

HEA 120. Snow zone 2 means that the snow load value on the ground is 2 kN/sqm. What it becomes on the roof depends on the roof shape, roof pitch, presence of snow pockets, etc. For a roof over a patio, it should be slightly lower.

Great, we'll go with 3 columns both at the front and back; HEA 24 is too heavy.

What do you think about the roof beams with cc100 span of 3m, would an IPE80 work? Maximum deflection 8mm.

You need an IPE100 to achieve less than 8 mm deflection.

Thank you very much!

What will be the deflection with an ipe100?

I also don't see why you can't manage with a HEA100 with three poles...
