I am building a frame for a cottage on a pier foundation. And I'm thinking about how to handle the area beneath the exterior door. How do you handle the sill under the exterior door if you want to minimize the threshold height? Should you cut away that part after the raising, and if so, do you lay the floor particle board all the way out to the frame opening? Meaning, the particle board would end up under the threshold against the joists. It is quite an exposed position as I assume the particle board isn't particularly moisture-resistant in the long run...

You can screw-glue a 45x195-200 under the sill at the cut-off piece. Otherwise, there is moisture-resistant spånplatta (V313).

Between the floor joists or?
But maybe a simpler solution is to saw off the sill and place a 22mm plank that will be at the same height as the particle boards in the door opening!?
Maybe just an extra nogging in the joist structure...

Does anyone know the standard depth of a threshold?
