I am going to lay chipboard flooring and am reading the installation instructions.
It states
"For screwing, screws intended for fastening
wood to wood or wood to steel, fully threaded –
electrolytically yellow zinc are recommended.
Dimensions 55/4.2 or equivalent"

When I search online, almost all particle board screws are partially threaded. What should I use?

this for example with wooden beams SPÅNSKIVESKRUV MFT T20 4,2X55MM 500ST/FP (bauhaus.se)
It's not fully threaded as the manufacturer says.

you don't need threads in the chipboard, only in the beam, sometimes it can be a disadvantage with a fully threaded screw that it doesn't pull the chipboard and the beam together 100%

I have never seen fully threaded chipboard screws. I also think it sounds like a bad idea since you want a screw that pulls the board against the stud. Out of curiosity, I checked the instructions for other brands, which don't mention threading but the figures show partially threaded screws.

Yes, I also thought it sounded strange with helgängad but you never know. Maybe someone had come up with something?

In the Norwegian part of the instruction, it doesn't say anything about full-threaded and that is the original language. So perhaps a translator who threw in some extra technical terms to show off a bit maybe :)

Observant.

In Danish, it also says fully threaded.

Yes, but we Scanians don't trust the Danes anyway :p

I have emailed the manufacturer and asked/pointed that out now.

Interesting to see if they have an explanation. But I would have chosen a standard partially threaded chipboard screw regardless of their answer.

Got a response to my email just now.

"Hei.

Skal gjøre en korrigering på dette.

Vi oppgir kun «sponplateskrue» på andre språk."
