chicken coop, door and stabilization
Currently drawing a chicken coop with a run. The height of the yard is two meters, the area of the yard is 1.5x2 meters and the chicken coop is 1.5x1 meter. It will be built using, among other things, 70x70mm joists attached with ground anchors. I'm considering how to best build a simple door (green) for a run (standing height) and how to best stabilize the joists for the chicken yard. What do you think about cable and turnbuckles?
Overall, I'm looking for an economical construction that is reasonably stable.
Gratefully accept tips.

I usually use decking timber as a frame for the door. Some rather flimsy dimension, like 22x95. Place two boards parallel to each other. Attach a plaster mesh with a staple gun to the decking boards, adjusting the mesh width to the desired width of the door.
At the top/bottom of the door, attach a decking board to the other decking boards at a 90-degree angle.
I hung the door on the posts with ordinary outdoor hinges.
Throw latch for closing the door.

It's really the mesh that's expensive if you buy a whole roll, but I used it to cover the rest of the cage and in other projects.

I don't know what the recommended dimensions are, but I have relatives who have hens and in recent years it has often been prohibited to let the hens out due to rampant avian flu, so expect that they may be "confined" in the coop for months at a time, not just overnight...Ö ÖronMüsli said:
The standards that exist are adapted for chicken series. It is advisable to be well above those numbers for small flocks.
