New problems. Measured and drilled holes for mounts for a speaker. After about 2cm, I encountered a cavity that lasts up to about 7cm in.

It might have happened that when I was chiseling, a chunk was knocked off the backside, but it's unclear.

The question is how to secure it now.

The speaker only weighs 3.5kg and protrudes about 17cm from the wall.

I drilled with an 8mm drill bit as the plan was nylon plug 8x40 first.

A "bonus problem" is that the head can be max 7mm. So if anyone has tips for finding that, it would be nice. I only found a 4.5mm screw that fit these specific plugs from biltema that had it.

inject mortar into a tube (works with glue too) insert the plug and let it set

Assume that there is a stop just below so that it doesn't all just run away?

there is no risk

So that I understand, it is a cavity possibly as deep as about 5cm. Why is there no risk of the mortar flowing away (when you press it in)?

Saw Fisher Fogmassa Repair AC, are you thinking something similar?

Do you know anything about how the wall is built?
Brick, slag stone, kloasong wall (plank frame with plastered reeds on top?)

I am 99% sure it's plaster on concrete block. However, I don't know how much plaster. That's why I was so surprised when I encountered cavities after 2cm and up to 7cm. That's also why I suspect I knocked off a "chunk" of concrete block making the cavity seem larger than it is. But then I managed to do that in two places directly above each other.

It's in the core wall in the basement if that matters.

I tried to take an okay picture. Where it's dark, there is a cavity. Depending on how I feel around, I can reach material up to maybe 3cm in, but then it's not such that a plug can grip at the far end (wider).

Close-up of a hole in textured plaster on concrete block, showing a dark cavity with uneven edges, indicating possible structural issues.

I went ahead with the regular universal plug from Biltema, it's solid as a rock now.
