Did you check the link I sent on how the opening should look?
A log wall is self-supporting; if you remove what's underneath, everything hangs in a way that no one expects, plus the logs stabilize the walls they enter laterally as well. If you remove everything you want, you risk both of these walls collapsing.
Questions:
* Did you check the link I sent?
* Do you understand what I mean when I say the wall can "kalva"?
* Is there any svärd where I marked in yellow in the picture below?
If you don't understand what I mean by that, check the link I sent showing how to put a svärd in an opening.
With log houses, there's a risk over time that everything just slides apart and collapses if you make too large openings and have too few walls left. I don't think you should proceed without first bringing in a skilled and experienced timmerman.
I have read the link. And at the ends of the wall I want to remove, there are no swords but "sword pieces" that sit between 2 logs in some places. I can take pictures of them later. But some of the logs are a bit loose. So I don't think it bears anything there. And if you remove them, you can probably reinforce the transverse wall with bolts?
Those are sawed-off dymlingar, they are used to stabilize the wall both laterally and longitudinally.
In what has been sawed off, you had the same "overlap."
They need to remain to prevent the wall logs from collapsing, and you need to install a swärd on the edge here.
