But then there is no reason to buy it in Poland, to replace it here at home with another one? ???

It is the grounded socket that is mounted in the wall and has a pin sticking out.

Is there anyone going to Latvia for shopping? I'll join. I speak reasonably/comprehensibly in Latvian and have some contacts in Riga.

Has anyone purchased underfloor heating products? I mean products identical to the Swedish ones and not similar. The guarantee might not matter much since it's little consolation to get a new underfloor heating cable when you have to break up your tiled floor.

For those interested, I can mention that www.ytrans.se charges around 9000 + VAT to charter a whole truck from Gdansk to the Mälaren Valley area (Eskilstuna). It can carry a maximum of 24 tons.

However, it's important to fill the truck properly! :) We will probably buy a kitchen at IKEA in Poland. The warranty only applies in the country of purchase, but we think that if a door breaks, it's not far to the nearest IKEA in Sweden.

We calculated for two identical kitchens at IKEA in Poland and Sweden, and the prices were 38000:- and 30000:-, respectively.
(The cheaper one in Poland.)
The prices are available online for both countries and the items have the same names, so it's easy to compare the prices. Some cabinets are priced the same, while others differ significantly.

Are there solid wood floors and similar at e.g. Obi, Castorama?

What we saw that can be called massive were parquet floors laid with massive staves of various types of wood; we did not see any pure plank floors. But I do not mean that they do not exist, only that we did not see them.

Hello
I will be going to Latvia around 15/10-2004
I have some prices for construction materials that I got from a company in Riga, but they are written in Latvian, maybe you can translate them?
Email me and I'll send it over
Best regards ;)

Electrical boxes, electrical conduit (vp-rör), and other electrical materials, are they the same standard in Poland as in Sweden?
(I know the grounded wall outlets look different).

Planning for another trip to Poland! :P
I called Poland this afternoon to inquire about the price of a 5-meter wide insulated garage door (HÖRMANN LPU40 5000mm x 2125mm x 42mm) and it would cost 8900:-sek!!!!! That's less than half the price compared to here!! (I called a nearby supplier and they wanted 22200:- just for the door)
They charge 1800:-sek for the motor. (It costs 3900:- here at home!)

Jesca, can you facilitate contact on ports?

Yep, it's www.castorama.pl phone 0048-58-5222100

The gates are also available at OBI, 0045-58-6673800.

I can add some pictures as inspiration for those of you who are eager to go shopping in Poland.

The food was much better than its reputation! :P
