I am planning to build a greenhouse based on my own design and happen to have a lot of birch carpentry wood that I could cut into studs. Now I wonder if birch would work for such a construction? It does seem a bit luxurious, but it's mostly just lying around anyway. Grateful for any opinions.

The answer may be a bit late, but still.

I think birch would be particularly unsuitable as construction timber for a greenhouse since birch rots very easily and quickly when exposed to humid environments. Perhaps it could be treated in a way to prevent this, but it's probably better to choose another type of wood and use the birch for something more enjoyable.
