The barn doors in the cabin have started to wear out and need to be replaced. I was planning to replace 1-2 this summer to start with and paint with iron vitriol. Does anyone have a blueprint for such doors? I'm attaching how they look today, it should be possible to come up with a sturdier solution.
Where can you buy good hinges for these?
They are locked using padlocks..
Attaching how they look today, there must be a way to come up with a sturdier solution.
If it's the door peeking out behind the excavator, I would say it's a classic panel door and there's nothing wrong with that construction. If you want a sturdier door, just use thicker wood.
Or do you mean you want something more burglar-proof or weatherproof?
I would have liked something more substantial, that's the door you see. They all look like that. Can you attach something like formplyfa or something at the back to get a more sturdy construction, or will they become too heavy then?
Which hinges should I buy that can support the weight and last for many years?
I have long considered renovating or rebuilding mine, but it hasn't happened yet. In my case, I will build exactly the same ones and try to retain the current fittings. Otherwise, they can be purchased from various places. Jula, for example, but I believe they cost around 200:- each, which in my case would be 3,600:- in total...
This is how mine look currently:
These are made from 50x200 boards and are very sturdy. However, the maintenance has been severely neglected by previous owners, which is why the doors are rotten at the bottom, as well as the entire boards that the doors are attached to (with through bolts through the concrete).
