I am going to build a treehouse for the kids and will base it on one described in Villaliv (June 2013). For the roof, I will use fjällpanel. However, I'm wondering how to handle the very top of the roof. On regular houses with tiles, there is a special ridge tile on the ridge. Do you have tips on how to seal the ridge or at least make it look nice?
Or do you think it's better to choose a different construction and perhaps use shingles or something similar?
I would finish with ridge boards that are screwed together.
Lengthwise, create a board that is mounted on the paneling on one side of the ridge, over the highest point, and then a similar board on the other side that is fastened with the first and then into the paneling.
Bevel the "top" of the first board so that it has the same angle as the other side's roof, and then beveled cut the opposite ridge board so that it can fit against the first ridge board and be fastened together.
To your advantage, you can lay a strip of roofing felt over the ridge before the ridge boards are put in place, to make it tight.
I made a quick image in Paint to show what I mean (it is neither pretty nor straight but maybe illustrative )
Thanks for the tip! I am not completely finished with my drawing and the nochbrädor are not yet adjusted according to your tip, but this is what it looks like so far (in Sketchup)
