I'm renovating a hallway.
There, I plan to put renovation plasterboard on the walls. About 1.5m up one of the walls, there's a power outlet. Can I just put plasterboard over it, or do I have to remove it, and if so, how?
I don't want to keep it there.
Best regards, Anders

I plastered over a number of junction boxes that weren't used and were placed a bit "awkwardly." However, I did replace the "el cords" so there weren't any connections. Easy to replace & complement with new "cords."
But as always....... after some time, I needed one of the boxes.
Luckily, I had installed a flat iron piece 8) in the box before plastering over, so it was easy to find again with the help of a magnet

Both my husband and the electrician have sworn a lot (they even invented entirely new swear words
) over blocked/hidden outlets during the renovation of the previous house. It ended up that after much searching, we had to cut holes in the wall to access the wires.
So don't build over unless you reroute the wiring to existing outlets.

Thanks for all the answers I've received.
The problem is that where the power outlet is, I need to put up a wall.
But you're probably right that it's silly to hide it, so I'll try to move the outlet instead.

That was a good idea! Even if I'm not planning to plaster over the boxes, I had thought about in-case-we-ever-get the boxes covered with wallpaper.SnickarPelle said:
