Build a simple storage door
You should NOT build doors that low!Lexington said:
I was planning to build a very simple storage door (about 1000x1800 mm).
The frame is built with 45x45 with a cross in the middle (as per the picture).
On the outside, I'll attach horizontal fjällpanel.
My question is, how should I position the cross for the best stability?
According to option 1, short side to short side,
option 2, long side to long side,
or option 3 in the corner?
Or maybe short side to long side?

And will it be enough to fasten with similar hinges?

No, I didn't check the date.
It was ByggaHus that activated the thread by advertising it.
I see nothing wrong with old threads remaining and being further developed.
Anyone who doesn't believe that low doors are a nuisance, I can gladly convince by knocking a piece of wood on their head.

Well, there are unfortunate exceptions where the building is incorrectly constructed from the beginning, and one is forced to have hatches instead of proper doors.
The Friggebod regulations are also far too restrictive regarding ceiling height. With 3 meters, it becomes difficult to simultaneously achieve sufficient roof pitch, a good door height (frame external dimension 2.10), and to raise the wooden construction sufficiently from the ground (25-30 cm) for it to be a sound construction, especially with plinths or crawl space foundations. With slab-on-grade and raised foundation walls, it works better, at least on flat ground. No, change the maximum height of Friggebod to 3.5 meters, possibly with the option for municipal politicians to lower it to 3 meters in the detailed plan if there are compelling reasons.
