A bit difficult to know where in the forum to post a question about bridge/ramp construction, but I'll try here.

I'm working on a project to build a bridge/ramp from an old stone foundation to the upper floor of my barn, see picture at the link http://www.viksbergsgard.se/fotoalbum/slides/Ladugard.html

In the left part of the photo, you can see the outlines of the old foundation of a dock that once existed for the barn that burned down in the past.

From there to the barn is a 5-meter span and now I have made a dormer roughly between the windows shown. As the frame for the bridge, I have installed 5 railway rails that should hold....

What we intend to drive up are caravans onto the hayloft and the weight is a maximum of 2 tons. Do you think I need any reinforcements down to the ground halfway through the span, or will the rails bear the weight?

I think it should hold, but it's best to ask the experts. The rails are very sturdy and extremely heavy...:)

Problem solved....:)

5 railway rails are so strong that when I drove a 2.5-ton car over them, they didn't flex a mm....

Without support beams...
