Hi
Does anyone know the possibility and conditions for constructing a stone retaining wall on a rock? Does it have to be flat or can it work on a sloping rock?

It works. I have a dry stone wall over 100 years old on a sloping rock on the property. Dry-stone. Will fix some pictures...

Here are some pictures. Not sure if it makes you much wiser from it... Blasting stone dry-stacked in wedge shape on sloping mountain, so that the top of the wall forms a flat surface where you can walk around. Stairs up in the middle. The wall is about 220 cm high.

Edit: It's about 400 cm deep as well, so wall and wall...

A dry-stacking stone wall on a sloped hilltop, with autumn trees and grass around. The wall is made of large rocks and includes a staircase in the middle.
Dry stone retaining wall built into a sloping hillside, with trees and autumn leaves around. The wall's top forms a flat surface.

Large stones dry stacked in a wedge shape against sloped terrain; yellow leaves and trees in foreground. The wall is around 220 cm high.
