Now the charging box is going to be installed, but it will be standalone as there is no facade or similar to mount it on... And I don't want just a post for the charger. So I thought about building something like a plank so you can mount the charger and a nice little hook for the cable, and even add a lamp so you can see what you're doing... Has anyone done something similar or does everyone have a garage or facade to mount it on? :)

Something like this
Wooden privacy fence panel with vertical planks and a slanted top on a grassy yard.

I have built a standalone charging pole! This is what it looks like at the moment. Soon, charging box number two will be installed on the same pole and they will sit next to each other.

  • A red freestanding electrical charging post with a single charging unit, situated outdoors on a grassy area with trees in the background.

I see, this looks nice,
I want to be able to hang up the Laddsladen instead of having it lie on the ground,
But nice solution,

A fälj is practical to lay the cable over/around. A steel frame for a water hose serves the same function, but after all, it is a car.

Deltaco has a "charging cable hanger" to hang the cable on, which has a dummy plug that you insert into the glove to protect against moisture, snow, and other dirt. Feels good I think and impressed my electrician. Costs about 295 at Netonnet among others.

This is how it turned out at my place. Maybe I'll put up a ceiling and a lamp

That looks like old-fashioned Swedish rural idyll.
A bit like an outhouse with shower facilities.

Don't know if that was a positive or negative thought. But I'll take it as positive  live in the "country"

Reviving this old thread as I have an emerging need to fix a "post/plank" for freestanding installation of a charging box in an older courtyard environment.

Is there possibly updated inspiration to partake of? :)

(Would love to see more of @grogge's build or equivalent style)

I borrowed this idea for a charging pole since we have a house from the 1930s and the ones you can buy are grotesquely modern. I'm convinced I will hum the theme tune to the notice board every time I charge. 😂

I know the charger can handle being exposed, but I would like more roof.

However, the construction itself is really nice.
