Hello!

I'm just about to set up a newly purchased above-ground pool. I plan to place ground insulation underneath, then put a landscaping fabric on top, and finally fill it with sand before starting the pool assembly.

The problem is that if you jump or put something hard down, it can create dents in the ground insulation, and I would like to place something durable (like chipboard) between the ground insulation before laying the sand. At the building supply store, they recommended construction plywood, but it costs about 450 SEK/sheet. Does anyone have a cheaper/better solution?

Thanks in advance.

Our pool is now in its 5th season and sometimes it's been lively there. The kids of course ::) 8)
We just laid age-resistant construction plastic directly on the ground insulation (70 mm).
Found some pictures from our pool construction:

Hi Carpenter Pelle!
Did you use the blue variant of ground insulation (the one that's somewhat harder), or was it the regular white ground insulation?

From the pictures of your construction, it seems like you didn't have any sand under the "middle" of the pool, only as an edge. Is that sufficient?

Otherwise, does anyone think it would be enough with thin industrial board or something similar?

We used regular standard ground insulation.
Just sand around the edges.
We haven't had any problems during the 5 swimming seasons.
I also have acquaintances with the same installation solution as us, and as far as I know, it has worked well for them too.
Now I don't know what you mean by "...something hard" but I would advise against it 8). The pool liner is the weakest link. A piece of advice: Forbid children (& adults) from using flippers in the pool. They work like knives against the pool liner :-/
