Working on the renovation of our baking oven and will soon start laying the damaged arches. For that, I need a number of stones cut diagonally from short side to short side, as well as some thinner stones.
What method is recommended for cutting these?
It's about 10-15 stones.
I've been considering if the large angle grinder with a diamond blade would be suitable, but maybe someone has a better method.

Since it's large brick about 15cm wide, you have to get in quite a bit to do it.

Your idea works perfectly!

I have used a diamond blade, it creates a lot of dust, but you can probably sprinkle a little water during cutting to avoid the worst.

Angle grinder with diamond blade works great, even though it creates a lot of dust.

But if you want to avoid the angle grinder and dust, is there a good "muscle-powered" tool you can use? The bricklayer's hammer is not so good for precision cutting...

Break them over the knee?

P
Motor saw with an attached garden hose, the flow of which is regulated with a valve on the saw. It is available for rent at places like Cramo and gets the job done quickly and dust-free.

As mentioned, when the masonry hammer isn't enough. I'm already familiar with the over-the-knee method.

If it only concerns 15 stones, you can go to a stonemasonry that makes tombstones and have them cut. Doesn't create any dust at all

trying with the "vinkelharry" first

Maybe a brick tongs? Otherwise, the diamond blade works well too.
