When it comes to price and quality, there is a good balance for deck screws.

Cheap = Crap
Expensive = Good quality

Consider all the work and decking material, you don't use junk screws.
Possibly if you're a cowboy builder for others.

Those of you who think cheap screws are rubbish, can you explain where the difference lies? Besides the price tag and perceived quality?

Just because I sell something expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's better.

In what way? I have indeed built fences with mine. But generally I think they worked well.
They bend easily, so if you went too fast, they took the shape of a drill twist, then they broke... But it can also vary from batch to batch...

Now I'm using up the last ones when I set up sparsely... :)

Nowadays it is more common to use decking with 145x28 or 145x34. The forces on the screw become even greater when the decking moves due to moisture/drying and temperature. Therefore, decking screws that can withstand this are needed.

If you use the old 95x22, most things will probably work if you don't care about corrosion depending on the external environment and substances in the decking material.

There is no sensible reason to skimp on decking screws when decking and labor are the major costs.

I would say the cheapest A4 of branded screws. I've tried both Biltema/Byggmax and Heco, and there's definitely more waste with biltema/byggmax....
Bought a large batch of MFT decking screws (A4) on promotion, 50%. Is this so-called "branded screws"?
