I am working on a little sill replacement and before I start sawing, I thought I'd see if anyone has opinions on my support:

  • the replacement must be done from inside
  • the plan is to support the wall with the door during jacking; I can't find a good way to make space for a jack
  • the wall carries 3 roof beams, sheathing, and sheet metal roof
  • roof beams are parallel to floor beams and have the same dimension, 220 x 80 mm
  • the beams are approximately 3.2 m long
  • floor beams have about 15 cm on foundation
  • supports are about 30 cm from foundation
Will the setup collapse when I put the saw to the door's studs? Right now, it seems only the higher side has load-bearing capacity.

Thanks in advance :|

  • Renovation project showing a wall structure with wooden beams and supports in preparation for sill replacement inside a house.

Well, with 150 views and no opinions (maybe due to my poor Swedish), I just had to try :|

The stamping works at least -- the bottom sill is now gone and the wall studs around the door have been cut. Now it's just a matter of putting in the new sill :D and eventually the door.

If it's any excuse, I think many use the forum to read (myself included) you will surely get a reply soon :)

Looks excessively serious, of course that works! :)
