Hello!
We are going to fix a room in the basement but don't know what to do with the walls. The lime residues need to be scraped off and the walls need to be primed, but then what!? Should we use concrete, filler, or something else to get the smoothest surface possible? Then it will just be painted. Grateful for tips!

  • Concrete wall in a basement with visible seams and uneven surface, needs cleaning and prepping for a smooth paint finish.

Best answer

scrape off the wall, mesh, plaster, paint with silicate paint or another diffusion-open one.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... But according to the paint manufacturers, it's exaggerated with silicate paint. They claim that all regular wall paints are diffusion-open.

Teknos has a paint specifically for basements, which is not silicate, more affordable, and should do the job as I understand it.
