Hello,

Installing new interior walls where we have U-tracks as sill and top plate with wooden studs. Planning to cover the wall with OSB and drywall. Besides of course fastening the OSB to the studs. Do I also need to fasten them to the sill and top plate? That would require a different screw given the metal profiles.

I plan to screw the drywall all around the sheet, but it also attaches to the OSB.

Thanks for all the answers!

Yes, you should screw the boards there. There are drywall screws kombi that can be screwed into both wood and steel studs.

Thanks for the quick response!

Wood screws for drywall work well in metal studs too.

Screw intended for the purpose is the nicest…

Various screw boxes stacked on a table with labels indicating screw types and sizes, alongside a Bosch cordless drill in a workshop setting.

From experience, I would like to claim that the wood screw fits better in metal studs than the combo screw.

The variants I have in the picture drill too slowly in metal when they are made for wood, but there might be other brands that are better.
