Attach MDF boards to my homemade TV stand?
I have now built my own TV bench solution using some kitchen cabinet frames from Ikea. As cover panels, I chose to buy MDF boards that are currently in for lacquering. I bought 12 mm thick MDF boards that I then plan to attach on the top and sides of the bench.
My question is: is it suitable to screw the MDF boards in this way, with the screws going first through the cabinet frame and then into the MDF, so that the screws are not visible on the top side. Will it hold, or will the MDF crumble? Is there a specific type of screw needed?
I feel a bit inexperienced with MDF, so any help would really be appreciated! I promise to post pictures of the project later.

it works really well, I'm doing the same thing, although I painted the MDF myself when I put them in place. It's just like I said, a matter of finding screws that are the right length.

Given that you have chosen such thin MDF, I would personally opt to glue the panels rather than screw them. You only have about 9mm to drive the screw into, so neither a pointed screw nor a screw with a drill tip seems ideal (pointed could cause bumps on the outside, and self-drilling doesn't hold as well, reducing strength).
If you still choose to screw, make sure to "screw with care" so you don't overdo it with the power drill, as you might drive the screw through the MDF or damage the MDF, leaving you with roughly the same strength as if you had used copper nails (round and smooth).
