Hello!

I'm in the process of tearing up an old floor in the cottage, along the walls under the baseboards there's a strip that I'm suspicious about. In some places, it looks like it's been smeared there. What could it be?

Best regards, Dcaprio

Piece of dark material possibly from old flooring, placed on a white window sill, part of a renovation project in a cottage.

How old is the house? If it's only small amounts, you can easily pick it off without breaking it and hopefully use a mask.

The house is maybe from the 50s sometime. Could it be svartlim?

Don't know, it could be asbestos residues in it, or not. If it's small amounts, nothing to worry about; if there is concern, send for testing.

The carpet was glued on nailed masonite, it was installed in the 80s and from what I understand asbestos was banned in 76 and totally banned in 82?

P3 respirator and vacuum cleaner with HEPA filter after you have mopped are a good start to minimize the risks.
