I'm really paranoid right now and wondering if anyone has submitted samples for asbestos analysis on plaster/mortar from an old house and it actually tested positive for asbestos?

The house we live in is completely newly renovated but built in the 50s-60s. The carpenters have dumped plaster from a wall onto the lawn that I've now been trying to scoop up.

It's kind of impossible to remove everything, and if it is asbestos, what do you do then? Does the dust just stay there and release fibers indefinitely?

So, has anyone taken samples of plaster and gotten a positive result for asbestos?

My parents and I have each used a wire brush to clean a textured plastered wall (walls) in a bedroom. This was to remove wallpaper glue, in preparation for skim coating. Totally unnecessary work we did, could have plastered over the mess directly. Recently read that asbestos has also been found in plastered interior walls. Damn it. I wonder if we've all inhaled this, without masks. It didn't really dust up; instead, plaster debris fell to the floor, but you never know about the invisible asbestos. The house is from 1950. Also, 25 years ago, used a crowbar to scrape clean two rooms with black glue on the floor, which was under vinyl flooring. Most likely asbestos in those too. I've probably inhaled quite a bit.

I think few will comment or know, since this asbestos in wall plaster is a new discovery.
