We are going to send it for analysis but are panicking a bit about letting the children be in the room - which is why I am now asking.
We have bought a house from 1880 where this carpet is in one room. It is extremely worn and we are going to replace it. What I am now wondering about is asbestos and if you think this is a linoleum carpet with asbestos in it? It doesn't seem to have that black glue underneath considering it's coming off a little here and there as you can see.

It's good to prevent children from trying to tear at the edges for safety reasons, and this can be done by placing furniture, moving boxes, etc. over or taping over the edges.
It's impossible to tell from a picture if something contains asbestos.
