Are truss rafters always load-bearing?
Hello,
we will soon gain access to our new house, and we plan to open up the floor plan somewhat. The house has trusses of the fackverk type. Are these always self-supporting (i.e., no intermediate support needed)? Or how should we consider this?

I assume the question is about whether it's possible to remove interior walls on the floor below the roof trusses?
Trusses typically have a longer span than "normal" roof trusses, but one cannot conclude from that that all interior walls can be demolished.
You need to examine the plans, or possibly call in a structural engineer who can determine which walls can safely be demolished.

Trusses can be made quite long and self-supporting.
But if the designer has access to a load-bearing wall, he will probably generally reduce the size of the roof trusses and utilize the support the wall can provide. Anything else is just waste.
