I'm redoing the room where the oil tank was and wondering what to put on the walls.
The walls today are plastered, but I'm considering what to have for an aquarium room. I won't be splashing water on the walls, but I still want some protection.
There will be ventilation extraction in the room
Floor drain and water are in place
Tips
Laundry Room Rules BBV 10:1
BBV
Building Ceramics Council's industry regulations for wet rooms
2.4 Other Spaces
In toilets, laundry rooms, and spaces with water heaters, the floor should be provided with a waterproofing system of the foil type (VTgF) or other approved waterproofing system (VTg). The waterproofing should be extended up the wall a minimum of 50 mm.
2.5 Watertightness Classes
VTgF = Watertight floor systems of foil type (fig 4) VTvF = Watertight wall systems of foil type (fig 5)
VTg = Other approved waterproofing systems for floors
(fig 4)
5.4 Lightweight Concrete
Floor and wall surfaces of lightweight concrete should be skimmed or plastered.
5.5 Plaster
Plaster can be lime-cement based. Surface smoothness should correspond to structure 2-3 according to photo appendix plaster structures, in AMA Hus. Water and/or fine materials that have been worked up in the surface layer during aftertreatment should be removed.
Alternatively, gypsum-bound plasters that meet the basic requirements in the current standard* for gypsum plasters may be used. The gypsum plaster manufacturer’s instructions regarding drying time, suitable surface structure for waterproofing substrate, and enduring moisture stability should be considered.
The underlying surface’s curvature may not exceed requirements according to table 43.CB/20 in AMA Hus.
Lime plaster is not a suitable substrate for waterproofing membranes and ceramic cladding.
