Hi!
I am installing a pellet boiler in the basement. I'm working on the masonry for the flue and the chimney liner. The other day, my father-in-law and I started laying bricks, ending the day by applying the last mortar on the top stone. According to my father-in-law, it's possible to continue laying bricks if you wet the dried mortar, apply more mortar on top, and then continue. (More mortar is needed anyway to fill a gap) Does this work, or do I need to chip away the dried mortar and apply new?

As long as the old bruk isn't brittle and crumbling, it can be dampened a little and continued...
