Found a place online offering oven doors with custom text for 1500:- and that would be fun... However, I became a bit skeptical when I heard that the material was aluminum.

Are there any obvious disadvantages with aluminum besides it not feeling as solid as good old cast iron? The appearance is reportedly the same... I should add that we actually plan to use the oven infrequently when it's brought out from a 40?-year slumber (anyone have any good recipes?).
 
No, the text is not important. But it sure would have been fun with an oven door with the house's name. I think I'll go for a regular second-hand cast iron door anyway...
