Planning to install beadboard paneling like Brandens panel board. Moelven has a much cheaper variant sold by Byggmax, a downside is that it can't be joined lengthwise (but maybe it can be managed?). Does anyone know how Moelven's board compares to Brandens or know of other similar products (besides actual beadboard though

Do you have high ceilings or why should you splice it lengthwise? If it's real paneling, it can be spliced fairly nicely since the joints end up in different places. I don't think fake paneling fools many people, but if the boards are spliced lengthwise, it probably fools even fewer.
I would say that if you want a nice panel wall, beadboard is a good choice. If you're satisfied with something that at a quick glance can be mistaken for a nice panel wall, then the panel board is fine regardless of the brand.

Smartpanel is also grooved at the ends and cheaper than Brandens. I have decorated 4 rooms with Brandens beadboard panel, and the person is not born who can see any difference between "real beadboard" and Brandens panel. Well, in one way you can see a difference, the beadboard panel does not crack apart as ordinary beadboard does. You have a perfect beadboard wall year after year. In our previous house, I nailed up ordinary beadboard that had been drying by all the rules of the art, but nonetheless, the misery began to dry apart after a year. The beadboard panel is superior, easier and faster to put up, and the result is much nicer than conventional beadboard.
I find it somewhat amusing that in the same post you write that it's impossible to tell the difference and that one is much nicer. The panel wall becomes a bit lively as you can glimpse wood grain and knots through the paint. I think that looks nicer. Panel boards I've seen have been quite sensitive to impact and moisture. In exposed areas, it can look quite bad after a few years. Hence my recommendation to use pärlspont if you want the appearance of pärlspont. On the other hand, if you think the panel board looks nicer, the choice is easy.
