I have renovation gypsum boards that are 6mm thick which I plan to use for an interior wall I'm building. The plan is to attach OSB boards to the studs and then use the renovation boards instead of a "regular" gypsum board (like these http://www.bauhaus.se/norgips-ytskiva-6x900x2500mm.html).

Is there any reason why this is a bad idea? You would think that the OSB boards should make everything stable enough anyway, so I thought I’d just go ahead with this to save cash (since I already have these boards, but no thicker ones).

No, there are no particular problems with it.

Renoveringsgipset is normally more expensive than the usual, but when you already have it, then.

Brilliant. Yes, in this case, the price is not a problem, rather the opposite :)

I have 6mm plasterboard on rough planks for about 8 years. They are puttied and painted and have held up excellently.

You'll have more floor space! That must be good.

Haha, yeah those millimeters probably matter less though :)

I find 6mm trickier to screw and that it requires more work with spackling as the area around the screw heads tends to rise, but sure, you can use them.

The fact that the area around the screw head bulges was not something I considered when I drove in the first 250 drywall screws from Grabber. Then I bought drywall screws from Heco, and NOW I am very aware of the problem.
