Hi, I'm going to put renovation plasterboard on this wall. Do you think I should put it along option 1 or option 2?

Thanks!

  • Partial wall with blue patterned wallpaper, outlined in red lines for renovation. Wooden floor visible with a power tool and cables on it.
  • Wall with blue patterned wallpaper and red outlines showing options for placing renovation gypsum.
It depends a bit on the measurements, but if you can install according to option 1 and cut away the recess on the long side towards the floor, you can avoid general seams.

What do you think about this then? There will be a few less seams.

  • Wall with blue patterned wallpaper partially removed, revealing sections of bare wall. Red lines outline three sections with fewer seams.
Ok does this also apply if it's not studs I'm screwing into? I've bought long wood plasterboard screws behind wallpaper etc there is a wood wall see image

  • Wooden wall with visible boards, partially covered by wallpaper, and a metal ladder in the foreground.
Yes, read the assembly instructions I linked, and you'll get good information on how to properly install gypsum.

However, I would have used regular gypsum, at least against the råspont (wooden wall). It is stiffer and absorbs unevenness in the substrate better.

You can do that, as mentioned, you should offset the joints by at least 300 mm, see [link]

I would have placed perforated joint tape in the angle between the wall and ceiling, leveled with a laser from the gable corners.
Treetex boards under 6mm gypsum can easily get depressions.
