Hello,

Does anyone know what kind of ceiling is in a basement of a 1960s house? Feels like concrete but more porous. It's the same throughout the basement... water pipes running in the outer walls go up into the ceiling. I now want to cut the water pipes to instead install underfloor heating, but is it safe to saw into the ceiling to cut off the water pipes there? I've had problems with the water freezing in the outer walls...

Assume then that it does not have a load-bearing structure...how thick can it be?
