Screw for MDF

I will probably go for 4x16mm and then maybe go up to 2.8?

Measured a 4 mm Essve screw now, it has a core diameter of 2.5 mm so test with that.

So it's not really tricky to screw into MDF, and I've also understood that MDF is good if it needs to be spray painted. Much less preparation work than plyfa.

Yes, if it's going to be painted, MDF is better.

I was actually thinking about the panel in the ceiling, not the enclosure for the pipe, but I realize that what you're screwing into now is not in the ceiling, so my comment is not relevant.

if you are worried that the screws won't hold, you can put a double molly in each corner + regular screw
