Had carpenters here who installed a glulam beam as support for a roof overhang that was sagging in one corner of the roof. According to the plans when the house was built, a post was supposed to be here, but it ended up in a bad position on the balcony, so it was never done at that time... Now that part is fixed, and the roof is okay, but I wonder if this beam should really be approved with a large crack running through it.

Price reduction on the job, or should I ask them to replace everything and redo the job?

A wooden support beam with a significant crack, measuring tape held against it, located on an outdoor balcony area.

The pole must absolutely be replaced.

Thanks for the answer, I guess I'll have to replace the entire post then. I'm starting to wonder if they even dimensioned it correctly or if they just had bad luck with the wood they chose...

Looks like a transportation damage
