You experienced! Want rustic surface on chimney shaft-Regarding plaster mortar C
Hello! I'm borrowing my boyfriend's account..
I'm in the process of plastering a chimney and will later also plaster around the kitchen stove.
I'm aiming for a somewhat uneven, moderately rustic surface. But now, after plastering a section of the chimney with Plaster C, I feel that the surface is too smooth, not as coarse/grainy as I intended. The surface is more like it's been spackled with regular wall filler. Kind of.
This was done last night, so it's not dry yet, and we're going to spray the plaster with water for a day or so.
Will the surface become more coarse when the plaster dries because the moisture evaporates?

Have you used 0-1 or 0-3mm? When aiming for a rustic feel, 0-3 is typically used and smooth out the worst of it, then take a coarse brush/masonry broom and brush the surface (note, before it dries).
0-1 or 0-3 is really over my head. I have no idea what it's about :x
On part of the surface, I roughed it up with a small butter knife when I started to realize that the surface was becoming too smooth. And that part looks as I intended. I didn't know there were special tools for this!
But then we can just go over the smooth surface again and make sure it's roughened up..........?
