Hi, in a few places on the facade there are old boards nailed up which I have now removed to put up paneling. According to a neighbor who has lived here since the houses were built in the 60s, the boards contain asbestos and they went like a "band" around the whole house. Now that I've taken down the boards and looked behind them, I think it looks like träullit. Is it träullit or not? Do they contain asbestos as the neighbor claims?

  • Close-up of a fibrous board removed from a facade, possibly containing asbestos or resembling wood wool cement board, with visible texture.

  • Gray painted wooden board with screws, shown against a background of wooden panels, with an irregular cut at the bottom edge.
That is not known.
Throw them away like asbestos

Yes, that might be just as well. From what I understand, träullit does not contain asbestos, or? If it is träullit then.

It is not träullit. At least not the usual variant.
Träullit consists of nothing but loosely pressed wood wool soaked in cement.

Looks like a combo of wood wool and eternit/minerit. If it's eternit, it contains asbestos. Otherwise not.

Then some träullit will end up in the asbestos container at the recycling center. That shouldn't be a problem.

That's exactly what made me a bit confused about what it actually is.

I'll throw the stuff away as asbestos regardless.

Is this träullit without asbestos?

The product in my picture is "real" wood wool, yes, just as it has always looked and still looks today. And, to my knowledge, it has never contained asbestos.
