Hello, we have a newly built house where we have installed a new wood-burning stove with a chimney, but we haven't applied for building permission for it! It has been inspected and approved. Is it tricky to apply for it afterward, or should we do something else?
You do not need a building permit but a building notification.

It is not a problem to make a construction notification afterwards, but you will likely have to pay a higher fee.Patrik999 said:
On my municipality's website, they recommend submitting a building permit/construction notification afterward if you know it hasn't been done.
I made a construction notification in advance when I installed the stove. I think the fee was 570 SEK.
However, I missed that part when I made a new exhaust duct for the kitchen. I will have to bite the bullet and contact them one day.
I don't think they come out and inspect in advance. I wouldn't "wake the sleeping bear."
By the way, what does it say on the form, do you have to inform or check if the stove is already installed?
The chimney sweep is probably not supposed to inspect until after the installation.

Since it might be that you have to pay a few hundred kronor more by being honest, it's really not a big deal to just be honest. They won't force you to tear down the stove and chimney.
What happens if you conceal the truth and submit a building notification that they see the opportunity to comment on? Are you then supposed to admit that the stove is already in place and inspected by the chimney sweep?

Well, if the chimney sweep has already approved it, I would probably make a building notification, be honest and say "that you didn't know". After all, it's not the end of the world, they are humans even in the "administration".
