Wood shavings as insulation?
I know, but I'm still talking about general cases. He is asking how to get it recognized as a defect, and that is one of the options. If he hasn't received any commitments about it, he cannot claim it as a defect in that regard.
If we take the specific case, TS noted that there were shavings in the attic before the purchase if I understand it correctly. To then claim that it's a hidden defect because there are shavings in the floor as well seems quite unlikely to me.

There were no assurances during the purchase as the previous owners had zero knowledge about most things regarding the house. They have even misplaced the building plans...
However, we do have the seller's inspection, transfer inspection, and a purely visual inspection from Anticimex. Sawdust is not mentioned in any of them.
