wood paneling on drywall ceiling?

Hi Hi!
In the basement, there is an old ugly plaster ceiling, and I am going to put up beadboard that I will paint white!

Is there any reason to take down the plaster except to gain 1cm in ceiling height?

You probably win with 13mm, but besides that. No, there is no other reason. There are advantages to keeping it too, it provides better sound and fire insulation!

He had an old gypsum ceiling! There used to be 10mm gypsum before....
