Wood paneling in a daylight basement house
We have our bedroom on the lower floor of our split-level house. On one of the walls, we want to put up wood paneling (Moelven Rough). It is drywall with felt wallpaper there now. Half of the wall is completely or partially below ground. Do you think it's okay to put up metal studs on the drywall and attach the wood paneling to these? Is about 4-5 cm air gap behind enough?
Or can I skip the metal studs entirely and attach the wood paneling directly to the drywall?
There are no known moisture problems in the wall.

There are no known moisture problems in the wall.
Are there battens to attach the panel to (under/behind the gypsum)?
The wooden panel is unlikely to affect the moisture, so if there are no issues now, there is no reason to take up interior space to create an air gap. If there are moisture issues now, they must be addressed first in any case.

I assume there are standard studs and insulation behind.
It would be best if I could avoid an air gap. I have a window that starts 5 cm from the wall, so it would look a bit odd if I had to extend the wall more than 5 cm.
