I am renovating the staircase to the basement.
I have started by removing the old linoleum mat that covered the steps.
Planning to use wood-like cladding for the steps instead. So I am keeping the basic structure with wooden steps, just replacing the surface on top. What type of sheet material would be suitable for this? It should preferably be thin yet durable, and able to be painted/lacquered.
Does it matter if there are completely dry glue residues left where the linoleum mat was? I don't plan to glue the new cover sheets to the steps; they will be screwed in place. What other adhesive can be used, is there one that also evens out a bit?
Big thanks in advance!
